It has always been JESUS…

We look at this Son and see the God who cannot be seen.

We look at this Son and see God’s original purpose in everything created.

For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels– everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him.

He was there before any of it came into existence and holds it all together right up to this moment.  And when it comes to the church, he organizes and holds it together, like a head does a body.

He was supreme in the beginning and leading the resurrection parade, he is supreme in the end. From beginning to end he’s there, towering far above everything and everyone.

So spacious is he, so roomy, that everything of God finds its proper place in him without crowding. Not only that, but all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe–people and things, animals and atoms–get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies, all because of his death, his blood that poured down from the Cross.

You yourselves are a case study of what he does. At one time you all had your backs turned to God, thinking rebellious thoughts of him, giving him trouble every chance you got. But now, by giving himself completely at the cross, actually dying for you, Christ brought you over to God’s side and put your lives together, whole and holy in his presence. You don’t walk away from a gift like that!           You stay grounded and steady in that bond of trust, constantly tuned in to the Message, careful not to be distracted or diverted. There is no other Message–just this one. Every creature under heaven gets this same Message. I, Paul, am a messenger of this Message.

Colossians 1:15-23 (MSG)

THE MESSAGE:  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 NIV)

Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?

Jesus answered, “This is the work of God: that you believe [adhere to, trust in rely on, and have faith] in the One whom He has sent.”    [John 6:28-29 AMP]

Now from beginning through to now it has been God and it shall surely end with him– It is God’s story of his grace, truth and love.

It has never been about us nor our works. God is only pleased with his son Jesus Christ and until we come to the point of believing–surrendering our will and saying not I Oh lord!, but your will be done (take the center stage), our Christian life might seem “burdensome” in the quest of “trying to look like Jesus”

Those who think they can do it on their own end up obsessed with measuring their own moral muscle but never get around to exercising it in real life.

Those who trust God’s action in them find that God’s Spirit is in them– living and breathing God!

Obsession with self in these matters is a dead-end; attention to God leads us into the open, into a spacious free life.

Focusing on the self is the opposite of focusing on God. Anyone completely absorbed in self ignores God, ends up thinking more about self than God. That person ignores who God is and what he is doing. And God isn’t pleased at being ignored.

But if God himself has taken up residence in your life, you can hardly be thinking more of yourself than of Him.  (Romans 8:5-9 MSG)

When we get so locked up (stunned) in awe of the beauty, majesty, grace and love of Jesus, we get transformed from the inside out.… In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. (John 1:4)

It is not about us so let us continually look to the AUTHOR and FINISHER of our faith.

In Paul’s words, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith– and this not from yourselves, it is a gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast.” [Ephesians 2:8-9]

We are who we are just by the grace of God. Stay blessed and God loves you!

In the Absence of Goosebumps…

Edit

Hope you’re blessed by these words; Words of hope from various portions of Scripture to warm our hearts with the truth that we walk by faith and not by sight…

He came to Nazareth where he had been reared. As he always did on the Sabbath, he went to the meeting place. When he stood up to read, he was handed the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. Unrolling the scroll, he found the place where it was written,

     God’s Spirit is on me;

He’s chosen me to preach the Message of Good News to the poor,

Sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind,

To set the burdened and battered free, to announce, “This is God’s year to act!”

He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the assistant, and sat down. Every eye in the place was on him, intent.

Then he started in,

“You’ve just heard Scripture make history.

It came true just now in this place.”(Luke 4:16-21 MSG)

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all.

The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. – Jesus (John 6:63)

So then, being filled with good courage and confident hope, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord—

For we walk by faith, not by sight [Living our lives in a manner consistent with our confident belief in God’s promises] —

 2 Corinthians 6:7

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.

The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV)
The above verses imply a victorious walk for we who are in Christ Jesus accessed by faith.

We fail to live this victorious life of- love, joy, peace, patience (longsuffering), kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control daily because many a time we relate to God based on our feelings (moods and emotions).

Yes, God sometimes uses our feelings to relate to us but in the absence of “goosebumps” is God also absent??

Absolutely not!

Jesus said, that which is born of flesh is flesh and that which is born of Spirit is spirit (John 3:6).

We cannot use our 5 senses to relate  the Spirit but only FAITH.
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen

For by it the people of old received their commendation.

By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. (Heb11:1-3)

Without faith it is impossible to please him (God), for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. (Heb11:6)

Be blessed ☺
